Internship Opportunity
Eligibility Criteria
Bonafide students enrolled in a recognized university or institution in India or abroad are eligible to apply, subject to the following conditions:
- Undergraduate Students: Must have completed or appeared in the second year / 4th semester examination and secured at least 85% marks in Class 12.
- Postgraduate Students: Must have completed or appeared in the first year / 2nd semester and secured at least 70% marks in graduation.
- Research Scholars / Ph.D. Candidates: Eligible to apply.
- Recent Graduates / Postgraduates: Students awaiting admission to higher studies may also apply if:
- They have secured at least 70% cumulative marks.
- The period between declaration of final result and the intended internship month does not exceed six months.
Areas of Work / Key Responsibilities
Interns are attached to different verticals, divisions, and units of NITI Aayog and may contribute through:
- Empirical research and analysis
- Preparation of briefing notes and policy papers
- Data collection and collation
- Report writing and presentations
Domains include Governance, Public Policy, Economics, Education, Environment, Social Justice, Health, Rural Development, Infrastructure, and many more.
Mode of Work
Offline (On-site) at the NITI Aayog office in New Delhi.
Important Dates and Timelines
- Applications are accepted online from the 1st to the 10th of every month.
- Applications can be submitted up to six months in advance, but not later than two months before the desired internship month.
- Internship duration ranges from 6 weeks to 6 months.
Stipend / Perks
- Stipend: No stipend is provided (unpaid internship).
- Certificate: Internship completion certificate is awarded upon successful completion.
- Exposure: Opportunity to work on national policy formulation and governance issues.
- Networking: Interaction with policy experts and government officials.

Documents required at the time of joining:
- Original academic mark sheets
- No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the institution
- Personal laptop

Selection Procedure
- Applications are reviewed by concerned divisions and verticals.
- Shortlisted candidates are selected based on eligibility and departmental requirements.
- Depending on the number of applications, NITI Aayog may apply additional screening criteria.
Important Notes / Additional Information
- Candidates may apply only once in a financial year.
- Minimum 75% attendance is mandatory to receive the completion certificate.
- Interns are required to submit a brief report or paper at the end of the internship.
- No hard copy of the application or supporting documents needs to be sent in advance.
