About the Job
Codeguardian Tech is inviting applications for the position of Legal Consultant (Criminal). The role involves providing expert legal advisory and support in criminal law and cybercrime matters, with a strong focus on emerging digital offences and regulatory compliance.
Eligibility Criteria
- Minimum five years of professional experience in handling criminal cases and cyber law matters
- LL.B. or LL.M. with specialisation in Criminal Law, Cyber Law, or Digital Forensics
- Strong understanding of new criminal laws, the Information Technology Act, 2000, and cybercrime-related regulations
- Relevant certification in Cyber Law or Information Security preferred
- Working knowledge of IT Act, Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, Intermediary Guidelines, and RBI–NPCI Liability Guidelines
- Practical exposure to criminal legislations including IPC, BNS, CrPC, BNSS, Indian Evidence Act, Prevention of Corruption Act, PMLA, NDPS Act, and other special criminal laws
- Experience in handling cases relating to data breaches, online fraud, hacking, cyberstalking, unauthorised access, and digital impersonation
- Strong drafting, research, and legal opinion writing skills
- Ability to coordinate effectively with law enforcement agencies, judiciary, and cyber forensic teams
Areas of Work / Key Responsibilities
- Providing legal assistance to law enforcement agencies and prosecutors in cybercrime cases
- Developing training modules and legal resource materials on cybercrime investigation and prosecution
- Reviewing and providing inputs on draft criminal legislation and proposed legal amendments
- Issuing legal opinions and preparing draft counters, petitions, and pleadings related to cybercrime and I4C matters
- Analysing relevant judicial precedents and complying with directions of competent courts
- Monitoring criminal cases and coordinating with standing counsels and key stakeholders
