Coalition for Juvenile Justice is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing juvenile justice reform, promoting youth leadership, and supporting fair and effective youth justice systems across the United States. CJJ works on key issues including detention reform, elimination of racial and ethnic disparities, and improvement of outcomes for youth involved in the justice system.

CJJ is inviting applications for the following positions:
- Communications Intern
- Policy and Legal Research Intern
1. Communications Intern
Mode of Work
Remote
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting in planning, writing, and managing the monthly newsletter
- Designing publications, graphics, and emails for members
- Updating and managing the organization’s website
- Creating and coordinating blog content with members and allies
- Fact-checking and editing communications material
- Maintaining listservs and data sources
- Summarizing complex information accurately and concisely
- Providing administrative and project support
- Attending meetings and briefings for note-taking and reporting purposes
Eligibility Criteria
- Pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in advertising, journalism, marketing, social sciences, education, social work, law, justice-related fields, or related disciplines
- Strong writing, editing, and research skills
- Proficiency in MS Office and Adobe tools
- Basic HTML and graphic design skills preferred
- Prior nonprofit, advocacy, or Capitol Hill experience preferred
- Familiarity with juvenile justice issues preferred
2. Policy and Legal Research Intern

Remote
Key Responsibilities
- Conducting research and preparing summaries on juvenile justice topics
- Fact-checking and editing policy materials
- Analyzing and synthesizing complex legal and policy information
- Preparing slide decks for webinars
- Attending relevant meetings and reporting insights to staff
- Supporting federal policy and juvenile justice reform initiatives
Eligibility Criteria
- Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, education, social work, law, justice-related fields, or related disciplines
- Experience tracking state and federal legislation
- Strong legal research and analytical writing skills
- Prior experience with nonprofit, advocacy organizations, or Capitol Hill preferred
- Familiarity with juvenile justice issues preferred

- Both internships are unpaid
