About the Opportunity
The Department of Legal Affairs conducts a structured Internship Programme aimed at familiarizing law students and graduates with the functioning of the Department. Interns receive exposure to legal research, court functioning, and advisory work across specialized areas such as constitutional and administrative law, finance law, infrastructure law, economic law, labour law, arbitration, conveyancing, and contract law.
Eligibility Criteria
- Indian students who have:
- Completed 2nd year of a 3-year LL.B. programme, or
- Completed 3rd year of a 5-year integrated LL.B. programme
- Law graduates from any recognized college, law school, or university
- Preference may be given to candidates with advanced computer skills (MS Office, infographics, Adobe, etc.)
Duration of Internship
- One month
- Commences from the first working day of every month unless specified otherwise

- 50 interns per month
Selection Procedure
- Candidates will be shortlisted as per prescribed guidelines
- Selection and deployment details will be communicated via the Internship Portal or email
Deployment
Selected interns may be posted at:
- Main Secretariat, New Delhi
- Central Agency Section, Supreme Court of India
- Litigation (High Court) Section, Delhi
- Branch Secretariats at Chennai, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Bengaluru
Stipend / Honorarium
- Honorarium of ₹1,000 upon successful completion of the internship
Submission of Report
- Interns must submit a monthly report along with assigned research work to Admin-1 (LA) at the end of the internship
Certificate of Internship
- Certificate issued upon satisfactory completion
- Minimum 90% attendance mandatory
- Satisfactory remarks from the supervising authority required
- Internship is full-time and interns are not permitted to pursue any other work/course during the tenure
Important Notes / Terms and Conditions
- Interns must arrange their own accommodation
- Working hours: 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM
- Formal dress code: black trousers and white shirt
- Interns must adhere to departmental rules and confidentiality requirements
- A Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) must be signed
- Internship does not guarantee employment
- The Department reserves the right to terminate the internship at any stage without assigning reasons
