Legal Job Opportunity (Research Fellowship)
About the Job
Research Fellows at Vidhi work closely with internal teams to undertake legal and policy research, draft publications, and support evidence-based governance reform. The selected Fellow will initially be placed with the Legal Design and Regulation team and will also be part of an institutional pool supporting other teams during the tenure, based on organisational requirements and individual strengths. The role involves active engagement with government ministries, departments, committees, and public institutions at both Central and State levels, with a focus on regulatory reform and institutional design.
Eligibility Criteria
Essential Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree in Law and or postgraduate degree in Law or Public Policy
- 0 to 2 years of experience in legal research or policy analysis
- A master’s degree will be counted as one year of experience
- Strong legal research, policy analysis, and drafting skills
- Excellent communication and presentation abilities
- Sound judgment and discretion in sensitive stakeholder contexts
Desirable Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Law, Social Sciences, or Public Policy
- Prior experience engaging with government officials, civil society organisations, industry associations, or other stakeholders
- Ability to work independently, manage ambiguity, and deliver structured outputs in a fast-paced environment
Areas of Work / Key Responsibilities
- Conducting high-quality legal research, policy analysis, and legislative drafting
- Preparing reports, concept notes, issue briefs, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders
- Translating complex legal and policy analysis into actionable recommendations
- Coordinating and participating in meetings, consultations, and presentations with government officials, academics, and researchers
- Managing timelines and workplans across multiple concurrent projects
- Writing articles and blogs to disseminate research outputs
