About the Internship
NITI Aayog initiated its Internship Scheme in 2015 to engage meritorious undergraduate, graduate, postgraduate students, and research scholars from recognized institutions in India and abroad. The internship is designed to provide exposure to public policy formulation, governance, and research-oriented work within the Government of India.
Eligibility Criteria
- Bonafide students of recognized universities or institutions in India or abroad
- Undergraduate students who have completed or appeared in the term-end examination of the 2nd year or 4th semester and secured at least 85% or equivalent marks in Class XII
- Graduate or postgraduate students who have completed or appeared in the first year or second semester of their program, or research scholars pursuing PhD, with at least 70% or equivalent marks in graduation
- Students who have completed their graduation or post-graduation and are awaiting admission for higher studies may also apply, provided they have secured a minimum of 70% cumulative marks
- The gap between declaration of final results and commencement of internship must not exceed six months

- Applications can be submitted only between six months and two months prior to the desired internship period
Application Process
- Applications must be submitted online only through the official NITI Aayog internship portal
- Applicants must clearly indicate their area of interest while applying
- A candidate can apply for the internship only once during a financial year
- Selected candidates are required to produce original mark sheets and a No Objection Certificate from their institution at the time of joining, failing which the candidature shall be cancelled
