Government Legal Internship Opportunity
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must satisfy the following requirements:
- Students pursuing LL.B., LL.M., or Ph.D. in Law from a recognized university in India
- Recent law graduates (within the last 6 months) may also apply
- LL.B. students must have completed or appeared in the term-end examinations of the 2nd year (or equivalent semester)
- LL.M. students must have completed or appeared in the 1st year / 2nd semester
- Ph.D. scholars in law are eligible
- Minimum academic requirements:
- LL.B. students: At least 80% marks (or equivalent CGPA) in Class 12 and good academic standing in law school
- LL.M./Ph.D. candidates: At least 70% marks (or equivalent CGPA) in the preceding law degree
- Strong command of written and spoken English
- Ability to draft legal documents and conduct legal research
Areas of Work / Key Responsibilities
Selected legal interns will be involved in:
- Research and analysis of legal and regulatory issues in the power sector
- Studying laws such as the Electricity Act, National Electricity Policy, Tariff Policy, and related subordinate legislation
- Drafting legal briefs, notes, and summaries
- Assisting in documentation and review work under ministry officials
- Supporting policy initiatives, committee work, and stakeholder consultations
- Preparing and presenting a final report or presentation

Duration
The internship is generally offered for a period of 1 to 3 months, depending on the requirements of the Ministry and the applicant’s availability.
Application Window
- Applications are accepted from the 1st to the 10th of every month
- Candidates should apply at least two months in advance of their preferred start month
Number of Positions
- Up to 6 legal interns may be engaged at any given time
Stipend / Perks
- Stipend of ₹5,000 per month
- Certificate of Completion upon successful completion of the internship
- Exposure to legal and regulatory work in the Government of India

Selection Procedure
- Shortlisting will be based on academic performance, legal background, Statement of Purpose, and available assignments

Important Notes / Additional Information
- Interns are expected to maintain at least 80% attendance.
- Travel, accommodation, and related expenses must be borne by the intern.
- Interns may need to arrange their own laptop or tablet unless provided by the Ministry.
- A final report or presentation is mandatory for successful completion.
