About the Opportunity
The Income Tax Department has invited applications under the Young Professional Scheme to strengthen departmental representation before the Income Tax Appellate Tribunal (ITAT). The engagement aims to involve young legal and accountancy professionals in tax litigation support, research, and case preparation, thereby enhancing the effectiveness of departmental litigation management.

Educational Qualification
Essential Qualifications
- Indian nationals holding a Graduate or Post Graduate degree in Law (3-year LL.B. or 5-year integrated LL.B.) from a recognized university, or
- Qualified Chartered Accountants
- Minimum 50 percent marks in the qualifying degree or professional qualification
Preferred Qualifications
- Chartered Accountants with articleship experience in taxation
- Law graduates or post graduates with prior research or project work in taxation
- Candidates with strong ICT skills, communication ability, and interpersonal skills
Age Limit
- Maximum age of 35 years as on the date of advertisement

Period of Contract
- One year
- Extendable by another year subject to satisfactory performance

Remuneration / Salary
- Rs. 60,000 per month (lump sum)
Job Description / Key Responsibilities
- Assisting departmental officers in ITAT matters
- Studying paper books of listed cases before the Tribunal
- Analysing judgments relied upon by assessees
- Identifying favourable precedents and distinguishing facts for the Department
- Preparing briefing notes and written submissions
- Undertaking legal research on taxation issues as assigned by CIT (DR) or Senior DR
- Supporting effective litigation strategy and case management
Selection Procedure
The selection process will consist of two stages:
