About the Opportunity
Income Tax Department has invited applications under its Young Professional Scheme to strengthen departmental representation before the Income Tax Appellate Tribunal (ITAT). The engagement aims to involve young law graduates and professionals with strong domain knowledge to assist departmental officers in tax litigation and research-oriented work.
Young Professionals will support effective litigation management by assisting in preparation of cases admitted before tribunals and undertaking in-depth legal and tax research.

Areas of Work / Key Responsibilities
- Assisting CsIT (DR) or Sr. DR before the Income Tax Appellate Tribunal
- Studying paper books of listed ITAT cases
- Analysing judgments relied upon by assessees
- Identifying judgments favourable to the department and distinguishing facts
- Preparing briefing notes and written submissions
- Conducting legal and tax research on specific issues as assigned by CIT (DR) or Sr. DR
Eligibility Criteria
Essential Qualification
- Indian nationals holding a Graduate or Post Graduate degree in Law from a recognized university or institution, or
- Qualified Chartered Accountant
- Minimum 50 percent marks in:
- 3-year LL.B. or
- 5-year integrated LL.B. or
- Postgraduate degree programme, or
- Chartered Accountancy
Age Limit
- Maximum 35 years as on the date of advertisement
Preferred Qualification
- Chartered Accountants with articleship experience in taxation
- Law graduates or postgraduates with research experience in taxation
- Candidates with ICT skills and strong communication and interpersonal abilities

- Extendable by another year subject to satisfactory performance
