Hyderabad failed to reach the play-off for the first time since they started playing in IPL but Chennai became the first team of IPL 2021 to qualify for playoff matches. CSK outclassed Hyderabad by 6 wickets n the 44th match of IPL 2021 in UAE and became the first team to get 18 points. Chennai scored 18 points from 11 matches. In this line, Delhi capitals are in 2nd position with 16 points in the points table. Out of a total of 14 IPL seasons, Chennai qualified for the 11th time and reached the playoffs. In this match of Chennai and Hyderabad, SRH’s outside chances of reaching the top 4 came to an end with their defeat.
This match in Sharjah, UAE it was an all-around performance from the Chennai team as it won the toss and then choose to ball on the pitch in Sharjah. After restricting Sunrisers to 134/7 CSK got another superb start with the opener Gaikwad and Faf du Plessis but later a middle-order wobble saw the match stretch to the final over. At the end of the match, Dhoni ended the match with a winning six.
The openers added 75 runs for the team and fully dominated the bowlers of Hyderabad. But they again turned the match in their favor when Rituraj fell to Jason’s holder in the 11th over. After the first wicket of Chennai, Moeen Ali and Raina fell in a quick session, and also Plessis fell with his 45 runs. Then Dhoni and Rayudu put their hands together for the remaining 31 runs.
The bowling of Chennai was also strong as its bowler Josh Hazelwood and Dwayne Bravo picked up 5 wickets between them and restricted Hyderabad to 134 runs.
