Position: Regulatory Counsel, Content
Eligibility Criteria
Minimum Qualifications
- JD, LL.B., equivalent law degree, or equivalent practical experience.
- Minimum 7 years of attorney-level experience in government, an in-house legal team, or a law firm.
- Admitted to the Bar and in good standing, or otherwise authorized to practice law in the relevant jurisdiction.
Preferred Qualifications
- Approximately 10 years of experience in legal, regulatory, or corporate compliance functions.
- Experience identifying, mitigating, and managing regulatory risks.
- Experience engaging with regulators and government authorities, including:
- State Attorneys General (AG)
- Federal Trade Commission (FTC)
- Department of Justice (DOJ)
- Data protection and consumer protection regulators globally
- Experience designing and maintaining compliance programs.
- Experience working within technology companies and handling complex technology-related legal issues.
- Strong project management and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Experience working with public company boards, audit committees, and special committees.
Areas of Work / Key Responsibilities
- Interpret laws, regulations, and compliance obligations and translate them into actionable requirements for Compliance, Business, Product, and Engineering teams.
- Provide legal advice regarding compliance programs, policies, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Manage discussions, negotiations, disclosures, and engagements with government agencies and regulatory authorities.
- Partner with stakeholders across legal, policy, product, engineering, and business teams to address emerging regulatory challenges.
- Support Google’s efforts to innovate responsibly while maintaining compliance with evolving content-related laws and regulations.
- Assist in communicating compliance positions and readiness efforts to external stakeholders and regulators.
