About the Organization
National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) is a statutory body established under the Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993. It is mandated to promote and protect human rights and has been conducting internship programmes since 1998 to spread awareness among students.

Internship Opportunity (Online Short-Term Internship Programme – OSTI)
Eligibility Criteria
- Students in:
- 3rd year onwards of a 5-year integrated course
- 3rd/final year of graduation
- Any year/semester of postgraduate degree or diploma
- Research scholars in any discipline
- Minimum 60% marks in Class XII and first 4 semesters of graduation/integrated course
- Applicants must clearly convert CGPA/SGPA into percentage with formula
- Age should not exceed 28 years as on 1 April 2026
Areas of Work / Key Responsibilities
- Legal and policy research on human rights issues
- Case analysis and data analysis
- Participation in group projects on human rights themes
- Book review assignments
- Engagement with expert lectures and sessions
- Virtual exposure visits (jails, police stations, NGOs/shelter homes)
Mode of Work
- Online Internship
- Full-time programme (10:00 AM to 5:30 PM, Monday to Friday)

- Duration: 18 May 2026 to 29 May 2026
- Last Date to Apply: 7 May 2026 (till 6:00 PM)
Stipend / Perks
- Stipend of ₹2,000 upon successful completion
- Certificate of participation based on performance and participation
- Exposure to human rights institutions and experts
- Mentorship through structured sessions

- Applications must be submitted online only via NHRC portal or mobile app
- Required documents:
- Statement of Purpose (250 words)
- Attested mark sheets (Class X, XII, and first 4 semesters)
- Letter of Recommendation from HOD/Dean/Principal
- Applications via email/post will not be accepted
Selection Procedure
- Based on academic performance and Statement of Purpose
- Preference given to candidates with research interest in human rights
- Final list of selected interns will be published on NHRC website
