About the Organization
The Department of Legal Affairs (DLA), Ministry of Law & Justice, Government of India, conducts an Internship Programme for law students and graduates. The programme is designed to familiarize interns with the functioning of the Department and provide practical exposure to legal research, court functioning, legal advisory work, and various specialized fields of law.

Eligibility Criteria
Applications are invited from:
- Indian students who have completed the 2nd year of a three-year LL.B. programme.
- Indian students who have completed the 3rd year of a five-year integrated law programme.
- Law graduates from recognized colleges, law schools, or universities.
- Candidates possessing knowledge of computers, including MS Office, infographics, Adobe tools, etc., will be preferred.

Interns may receive exposure and training in:
- Legal research and referencing work
- Court functioning and litigation-related processes
- Constitutional Law
- Administrative Law
- Finance Law
- Infrastructure Law
- Economic Law
- Labour Law
- Conveyancing
- Arbitration and Contract Law
- Legal advisory assignments in specialized fields of law
Duration of Internship
- The internship is ordinarily for one month.
- The programme generally commences on the first working day of every month, unless otherwise specified.
Mode of Work
Physical / On-site Internship
Selected interns may be deployed at:
- Main Secretariat, New Delhi
- Central Agency Section at the Supreme Court
- Litigation High Court Section, Delhi
- Branch Secretariats at Chennai, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Bengaluru
Selection Procedure
- Up to 50 candidates may be selected every month.
- Selection is conducted on a first-come, first-served basis, subject to fulfillment of eligibility criteria and shortlisting guidelines.
- Shortlisted candidates will be informed through the Internship Portal or email.
Stipend / Honorarium
- Interns may be awarded an honorarium of ₹5,000 upon successful completion of the internship.
Certificate
A Certificate of Internship may be awarded subject to:
- Satisfactory completion of the internship
- Minimum 90% attendance
- Positive assessment by the concerned authority supervising the intern’s work

Applicants are required to:
- Fill out the online application form.
- Upload relevant documents.
- Submit a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their college/university, wherever applicable.
- Apply before the deadline notified on the official internship portal.

- Interns are required to attend physically and follow official working hours.

- The internship does not guarantee employment with the Department of Legal Affairs.
- Interns are required to arrange their own accommodation during the internship period.
