Associate – Commercial Dispute Resolution
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates should have:
- A three-year or five-year LL.B. degree from a reputed university with an excellent academic record.
- 2–3 years of post-qualification experience in Commercial Litigation or Arbitration.
- Experience in domestic and international arbitrations involving contractual disputes.
- Experience in general civil and commercial litigation.
- Candidates with additional experience in general corporate advisory, securities, exchange control and IPR disputes will have an advantage.
- Candidates based in Mumbai are preferred.
Areas of Work / Key Responsibilities
The selected candidate will be expected to:
- Handle commercial litigation and arbitration matters.
- Draft replies to legal notices, civil suits, appeals, writ petitions, SLPs and written submissions.
- Assist in drafting pleadings and documents for arbitration and other commercial matters.
- Conduct legal research using relevant legal databases.
- Analyse legal issues and apply applicable laws to practical matters.
- Communicate directly with clients, where required.
- File documents and pleadings before various courts and forums.
- Visit courts and client offices as required.
- Work under the guidance of Principal Associates, Joint Partners and Partners.
Knowledge Areas
Candidates should have working knowledge of:
- General commercial laws
- Court and arbitration procedures
- Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code
- Limitation Act
- Code of Civil Procedure
- Company Law
- Constitutional Law
Candidates must also possess up-to-date knowledge of relevant commercial laws.
Desired Skills and Competencies
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical and legal research abilities.
- Ability to apply legal principles to practical issues.
- Strong drafting skills.
- Good team-playing abilities.
- Moot court or litigation experience will be beneficial.
- Tech-savvy and comfortable using computers and digital platforms.
- Prior publication of articles on relevant legal disputes or subject areas is desirable.
- High level of integrity, commitment and professional ethics.
