Position: Legal Associate – Privacy
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants should:
- Be legally qualified.
- Have 3–5 years of experience in data protection, privacy, or related compliance functions.
- Possess a strong understanding of privacy compliance processes, including:
- Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs) / Privacy Risk Assessments (PRAs)
- Data Subject Access Requests (DSARs)
- Records of Processing Activities (ROPAs)
- Incident management and privacy compliance programs
- Have experience working with cross-functional stakeholders in a global environment.
- Demonstrate familiarity with technology systems, digital tools, data flows, and privacy risk management.
- Be capable of independently managing workstreams with limited supervision.
- Have experience in project coordination or programme support.
Preferred Qualifications
Preference may be given to candidates who have:
- Privacy certifications such as CIPP/E or CIPP/US.
- Exposure to multi-jurisdictional privacy and data protection laws.
- Experience in technology, cybersecurity, digital risk, or product counselling environments.
Areas of Work / Key Responsibilities
The selected candidate will be responsible for:
- Supporting and managing privacy operations and advisory activities across business functions.
- Acting as a key point of contact for Privacy Risk Assessments (PRAs).
- Advising stakeholders on privacy compliance requirements and risk management.
- Supporting Local Privacy Advisers on:
- ROPAs
- DSARs
- Privacy incidents
- Privacy notice updates
- Negotiating standard privacy clauses and contracts using established playbooks.
- Implementing privacy-by-design principles in business projects.
- Producing reports, metrics, and risk assessments for the Global Privacy Team.
- Coordinating with legal, technology, cybersecurity, and business stakeholders.
- Supporting continuous improvement of privacy processes, templates, and operational frameworks.
- Mentoring junior team members and contributing to training initiatives.
Specialist Focus Area
The role includes responsibilities relating to:
- Privacy training strategy and delivery.
- Development of privacy-related guidance materials and playbooks.
- Management and enhancement of Privacy SharePoint resources.
- Leveraging AI tools for creating and improving privacy training content.
- Supporting the organization’s goal of becoming a technology-enabled and data-driven privacy function.

About the Team
The selected candidate will become part of Unilever’s Global Privacy Team, working alongside legal, privacy, and technology professionals based across India, the United States, the United Kingdom, Mexico, China, Spain, and South Africa, contributing to privacy governance and compliance initiatives on a global scale.
