About the Organization
The Competition Commission of India (CCI) is a statutory body established under the Competition Act, 2002 to prevent anti-competitive practices, promote and sustain competition in markets, protect consumer interests, and ensure freedom of trade in India.
CCI offers internship opportunities to students interested in Competition Law, Economics, Management, Finance, and Regulatory Governance to provide practical exposure to the Competition Act and its application.

Eligibility Criteria
The internship is open only to Indian nationals.
Law Students
- Second and third year students of the 3-year LL.B. programme.
- Fourth and final year students of the 5-year integrated LL.B. programme.
- Students who have completed the third year examination and are entering the fourth year of the integrated law course.
- LL.M. students.
Other Eligible Candidates
- MA/M.Sc. (Economics) students.
- Fourth and final year students of 5-year integrated Economics programmes.
- MBA students.
- MA/M.Sc. (Regulatory Governance) students.
- Students of the final group of Chartered Accountancy (CA), Cost Accountancy (CMA), or Company Secretary (CS) courses.
Note: Students who already have a placement offer in hand are not eligible to apply.
Areas of Work / Learning
Interns will be familiarized with:
- Competition Law and the Competition Act, 2002.
- Research and analysis relating to competition issues.
- Work undertaken by different divisions of the Commission.
- Preparation of presentations and reports on assigned work.
Duration of Internship
- Normally one month, commencing on the first working day of the month.
- Students seeking internships for 2–3 calendar months may also apply with a recommendation from their University/College/Institution.

Stipend / Honorarium
- Honorarium of ₹15,000 per month will be provided to interns.

Application Process
Applicants must:
- Apply in the prescribed application format.
- Obtain a recommendation from the competent authority of their academic institution.
- Submit a Statement of Purpose (approximately 200 words) outlining the proposed topic and objectives of study.
- Submit the completed application online through the official website of the Competition Commission of India.
Important Dates and Timelines
- Applications should reach the Commission by the 1st day of the month preceding the intended internship month.
- For example, candidates seeking an internship in December must apply by 1 November.
Selection Procedure
- Eligible applications are scrutinized by the Commission.
- Selected interns are allotted to different divisions of the Commission.
- Interns are required to make a presentation on the work undertaken during the internship.
- Successful completion of assigned work is mandatory for receiving the certificate and honorarium.
Important Notes / Additional Information
- Internship is a full-time programme.
- Interns must maintain discipline, punctuality, integrity, and confidentiality.
- Unauthorized absence may result in extension or termination of the internship.
- Interns must provide an undertaking that they do not possess any placement offer and will maintain confidentiality of all information accessed during the internship.
- The outcome of the study conducted during the internship shall remain the intellectual property of the Competition Commission of India.
- The internship does not confer any right or assurance of employment with CCI.
