Legal Counsel – Retail Banking Legal
Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualifications
- Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) is mandatory.
- Master of Laws (LL.M.) or a related postgraduate qualification is preferred.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 7 years of experience in legal roles within the banking or financial services sector.
- Proven experience in litigation management, legal documentation, and regulatory compliance matters.
Areas of Work / Key Responsibilities
Primary Responsibilities
- Implement legal policies, processes, and procedures within the Retail Banking Legal function.
- Draft and manage legal documentation, including legal notices, memos, meeting minutes, reports, charts, and other legal records.
- Provide legal support to internal stakeholders for timely closure of banking transactions.
- Support litigation and investigation-related matters.
- Monitor and manage legal operations in compliance with internal standards and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain Legal MIS and records relating to legal interventions and defended matters.
- Assist in developing and updating legal manuals, policies, and operating procedures.
- Conduct legal research on precedents, regulatory developments, and legal records.
- Track legislative and regulatory developments affecting the banking sector.
- Ensure systematic storage, maintenance, and retrieval of legal documents.
Secondary Responsibilities
- Review legal journals, court circulars, and regulatory updates.
- Recommend policy and process improvements to enhance operational efficiency.
- Monitor emerging legal trends and industry developments relevant to banking and financial services.
