Position: Legal Manager
Eligibility Criteria
- Law Graduate.
- Understanding of banking policies and practices.
- Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Good working knowledge of MS Office, including MS Excel.
- Strong attention to detail and learning aptitude.
- Ability to work closely with collections teams and external stakeholders.
Areas of Work / Key Responsibilities
Litigation & Recovery Management
- Develop and implement legal strategies for recovery of stressed assets.
- Support recovery efforts through cost-effective legal remedies and enforcement actions.
- Coordinate with collections teams for timely recovery of outstanding dues from borrowers, co-borrowers, and guarantors.
Drafting & Legal Advisory
- Draft and review:
- Legal notices
- Replies and responses
- Complaints
- Petitions
- Process notes
- Internal policies
- Research and share legal developments, case laws, and statutory amendments impacting the banking sector.
- Provide legal support relating to:
- Arbitration proceedings
- Online Dispute Resolution (ODR)
- NCLT matters
- Wilful defaulter proceedings
Litigation Management
- Initiate legal actions against delinquent customers based on case-specific requirements.
- Track eligible cases and monitor litigation progress.
- Attend court proceedings and represent the bank under Power of Attorney (POA).
- File complaints, suits, plaints, and other legal proceedings before civil and criminal courts.
- Visit police stations and coordinate criminal proceedings involving the bank.
- Liaise with advocates, agencies, law firms, judicial authorities, and quasi-judicial bodies.
- Report adverse orders and significant developments to management.
Compliance & Reporting
- Maintain litigation MIS and prepare monthly progress reports.
- Track pending and ongoing legal matters.
- Manage lawyer empanelment and maintain billing records of external counsel.
Key Skills Required
- Strong legal drafting and litigation management skills.
- Understanding of banking laws, recovery mechanisms, and dispute resolution processes.
- Knowledge of Arbitration, ODR, NCLT proceedings, and wilful defaulter actions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong stakeholder management and coordination abilities.

Travel Requirement
- Travel may be required depending on court appearances, regulatory proceedings, and case-specific requirements.
