About the Internship
NITI Aayog initiated its official Internship Scheme in 2015 to engage meritorious students and research scholars. The programme offers exposure to policy-making, governance, and development-oriented research under various verticals of the institution.
Eligibility Criteria
Bonafide students enrolled in recognized universities or institutions in India or abroad, meeting the following conditions:
- Undergraduate Students
- Completed or appeared in 2nd year / 4th semester examinations
- Minimum 85% or equivalent marks in Class XII
- Postgraduate Students / Research Scholars (including PhD)
- Completed or appeared in 1st year / 2nd semester examinations
- Minimum 70% or equivalent marks in Graduation
- Recent Graduates / Postgraduates
- Awaiting admission to higher studies
- Must have secured at least 70% cumulative marks in all semesters/years
- Gap between declaration of final result and internship start should not exceed 6 months

- Minimum: 6 weeks
- Maximum: 6 months

Important Dates and Timelines
- Last Date to Apply: 10 February 2026
- Applications can be submitted only:
- Up to 6 months in advance
- Not later than 2 months before the intended internship month

- Applicants must clearly indicate their Area of Interest

Important Conditions:
- A candidate can apply only once during a financial year
- Selected candidates must produce:
- Original mark sheets
- No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the institution (as per Annexure ‘C’)
- Failure to submit documents at the time of joining will result in cancellation of candidature
