Legal and Policy Internship Opportunity under the NITI Aayog Internship Scheme.
About the Opportunity
The NITI Aayog Internship Scheme, initiated in 2015, aims to engage meritorious students and research scholars from recognized universities and institutions in India and abroad. Interns are provided exposure to public policy formulation, legal research, and governance-related work at the national level.
The engagement period shall be a minimum of 6 weeks and may extend up to a maximum of 6 months.
Eligibility Criteria
Bonafide students of recognized universities or institutions in India or abroad who meet the following criteria are eligible to apply:
- Undergraduate students who have completed or appeared in the 2nd year or 4th semester examinations of their bachelor’s degree and have secured at least 85 percent or equivalent marks in Class 12.
- Postgraduate students who have completed or appeared in the 1st year or 2nd semester of their PG program or are pursuing research or PhD, and have secured at least 70 percent or equivalent marks in graduation.
- Students who have completed graduation or postgraduation and are awaiting admission for higher studies may also apply, provided they have secured a minimum of 70 percent cumulative marks.
- The gap between the declaration of the final result and the desired month of internship must not exceed 6 months.

- Analysis of government schemes and policy frameworks
- Assistance in drafting reports, notes, and policy briefs
- Supporting divisions of NITI Aayog in assigned areas of interest

Stipend / Perks

Application Process
- Applications must be submitted online through the official NITI Aayog internship portal.
- Applicants can apply a maximum of six months in advance and not later than two months before the desired internship month.
- Candidates must clearly indicate their preferred area of interest.
- A candidate is permitted to apply for the internship only once during a financial year.
- Selected candidates must produce original mark sheets and a No Objection Certificate from their institution at the time of joining, failing which the candidature will be cancelled.
