About the Job
An Indian subsidiary of Amazon.com, operating in the payments business, is inviting applications for the position of Associate Corporate Counsel. This role is suited for legal professionals with experience in privacy, data protection, and technology law. The position is based in Bangalore and is offered on a fixed-term basis of three years. The selected candidate will report to a Corporate Counsel or Senior Corporate Counsel and will closely work with cross-functional legal and business teams.
Eligibility Criteria
Basic Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of post-qualification legal experience
- Associate Member (ACS) of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) with valid membership
- LL.B. degree from a recognized university in India
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience across both law firm and in-house legal roles
- Exposure to web services, cloud computing, software licensing, or telecommunications sectors
Areas of Work / Key Responsibilities
- Providing legal advice on data privacy, technology law, company secretarial matters, and regulatory compliance
- Drafting, reviewing, and maintaining privacy-related documentation including data sharing agreements, privacy policies, notices, consent frameworks, and internal SOPs
- Monitoring developments in data protection laws and assessing business impact
- Advising on privacy and data protection aspects of new products, features, and business initiatives
- Managing and documenting privacy projects in coordination with internal and global teams
- Drafting and negotiating contracts and supporting compliance initiatives
- Collaborating closely with business, product, technology, and legal stakeholders
