About the Organization
The Goods and Services Tax Network is the core IT backbone of India’s Goods and Services Tax regime. It is a non-profit organisation that provides a shared and secure digital infrastructure for the Central and State Governments and taxpayers. GSTN manages the entire GST portal, facilitating registration, return filing, tax payments, refunds, and large-scale data exchange to ensure efficient indirect tax administration across the country.

Eligibility Criteria
- Bachelor of Law (LL.B.) or equivalent degree, including a 5-year integrated law course
- Degree must be from a BCI-approved institution affiliated with a UGC-recognised university or deemed university
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience, including at least 3 years of litigation practice
- Strong knowledge of applicable statutes, government policies, regulations, and indirect taxation
- Sound understanding of Corporate Laws, Labour Laws, IP Laws, Data Privacy, IT Law, and relevant Civil and Criminal Laws
- Familiarity with procedures and practices of Civil and Criminal Courts across judicial hierarchies
- Proficiency in drafting pleadings, counter affidavits, litigation replies, contracts, MOUs, settlements, and powers of attorney
- Proficiency in written and spoken English and Hindi
Areas of Work / Key Responsibilities
- Assisting in the design and implementation of legal policies, guidelines, controls, and checkpoints
- Supporting budgeting and financial planning for the Legal Department
- Identifying and mitigating key legal risks to the organisation
- Monitoring legal and regulatory developments and advising senior management
- Coordinating with external lawyers, government counsels, regulatory bodies, and authorities
- Preparing legal briefs for government-empanelled counsels representing GSTN
- Drafting and reviewing contracts, agreements, powers of attorney, and related legal documents
- Managing litigation, responses to legal notices, writ petitions, and court filings
- Maintaining litigation, IPR, and compliance MIS and central legal documentation repositories
- Supporting data privacy compliance and protection of GSTN’s IPR portfolio
- Assisting in people development, training needs assessment, and performance appraisal processes
