The National Human Rights Commission is a statutory public body constituted under the Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993. The Commission is mandated to protect and promote human rights in India, encompassing rights relating to life, liberty, equality, and dignity as guaranteed by the Constitution of India and international human rights covenants.

Paid Legal Internship Opportunity (Short-Term Internship Programme)
Eligibility Criteria
Eligible applicants include students and scholars from across India falling under the following categories:
- Students in the 3rd year or onwards of an integrated 5-year undergraduate programme
- Students in the 3rd year or final year of a graduation course
- Students enrolled in any semester or year of a postgraduate degree course
- Students enrolled in any semester or year of a postgraduate diploma course
- Research scholars from any discipline
Additional requirements:
- Minimum 60 percent marks in Class XII and all subsequent academic courses, including the currently pursued programme
- Applicants must clearly mention the calculated percentage derived from CGPA/SGPA along with the conversion formula
- Age limit: Not more than 28 years as on 1 January 2026

- Total duration: 2 weeks
- Internship period: 2 February 2026 to 13 February 2026
- Working hours: 10:00 AM to 5:30 PM (Monday to Friday)
Important Dates and Timelines
- Last date for submission of application: 11 January 2026 (by 6:00 PM)
- Internship commencement: 2 February 2026
Stipend / Perks
- Stipend: Rs 2,000 upon successful completion of the internship
- Certificate of Participation subject to:
- Mandatory attendance, punctuality, discipline, and participation in online sessions
- Timely submission of project report, project presentation, and book review
Application Process
Interested candidates must apply online through the official NHRC portal. The following documents are mandatory:
- Statement of Purpose (250 words) on the topic: “Statement of Purpose (SoP) for joining NHRC Online Short Term Internship”
- Self-attested scanned copies of mark sheets from Class XII onwards, including all semesters/years of the current course
- Recommendation letter or email from the Head of Department, Dean, or Principal in the prescribed proforma
