About the Internship
NITI Aayog initiated its Internship Scheme in 2015 with the objective of engaging meritorious students and research scholars in policy-oriented work. The internship provides exposure to public policy formulation, governance frameworks, and institutional research at the national level.
- Internship duration ranges from a minimum of 6 weeks to a maximum of 6 months.
Eligibility Criteria
- Bonafide students of any recognized university or institution in India or abroad
- Undergraduate students who have completed or appeared in the 2nd year or 4th semester examinations and secured at least 85 percent or equivalent marks in Class 12
- Postgraduate students who have completed or appeared in the 1st year or 2nd semester examinations, or research scholars including PhD candidates, having secured at least 70 percent or equivalent marks in graduation
- Students who have completed their graduation or postgraduation and are awaiting admission to higher studies may apply, provided they have secured at least 70 percent cumulative marks
- The gap between declaration of final results and commencement of internship must not exceed 6 months
- A candidate may apply for the internship only once in a financial year

- Applications can be submitted a maximum of 6 months in advance and not later than 2 months before the desired internship month

- Applications must be submitted online through the official NITI Aayog internship portal only
- Applicants must clearly indicate their preferred area of interest
- At the time of joining, selected candidates must produce original mark sheets and a No Objection Certificate from their institution in the prescribed format, failing which the candidature will be cancelled
