Chair Professorship in Intellectual Property Rights
About the Opportunity
NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad has invited Expressions of Interest for the contractual position of Full-Time IPR Chair Professor under the Intellectual Property Rights Chair established by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, under the SPRIHA initiative.
The Chair Professor will be responsible for promoting teaching, research, and engagement in Intellectual Property Rights, expanding the IP knowledge base, fostering national and international academic collaborations, and engaging with industry stakeholders, startups, innovators, and students. Regular academic and public policy publications are also expected as part of the role.
Eligibility Criteria
An applicant must satisfy any one of the following conditions:
- Has served as, or is eligible to serve as, a Professor or Associate Professor as per UGC norms and possesses substantial teaching and research experience in Intellectual Property Rights, or
- Is an IP attorney with a minimum of ten years of practice in IPR law, or
- Is a professional with significant national or international recognition in the field of IPR with at least ten years of experience, or
- Is a retired official of the IP Office under CGPDTM holding a doctoral degree, with at least five years of experience at Level 12 or above, such as Controller of Patents and Designs, Registrar of Trademarks and Geographical Indications, or Registrar of Copyrights
Age and Tenure
- Candidates above 70 years of age are not eligible
- Appointment is on a full-time contractual basis
- Initial tenure is one year, extendable up to a maximum of five years based on performance and institutional requirements

Offline and on-campus academic engagement
Full-time physical presence required
Remuneration
- Consolidated remuneration of Rs. 1,50,000 per month
- Annual increment of 3 percent upon completion of each 12-month period
